monday

Oh its hot, the hottest day forcast for some time. The campsite is waking up, the smell of bacon and sausages frying, toast setting off the alarms.

Rowntree site is well situated to explore the City of York, a fine network of cycle paths are also available for those that have brought there's!

We are on "shankses ponies", to explore the streets and shops. our first attraction, the River Ouse, is alive with boats and ducks, people are out drinking and relaxing by the river, hard to imagine this area during the floods.

And then there are the City Walls, some 2.5 miles of remaining section to explore. http://www.visityork.org/explore/walls.html

The streets are gorgeous with some black and whites still standing, and then theres "The Shambles" oh my, shame they haven't retained the shops that are now in the buildings. This was a row of butchers in its day, with a vibrant market just behind.
