Last Day

We have a small breakfast of croissants and jam washed down with tea. After clearing away we set off to our first attraction. Having walked by the river a few times this week we decide to take the section of wall to Micklegate and then on to the Railway Station.

We are the only tourists on the wall this morning apart from 2 others who join at Micklegate. After a short look at the station and its vaulted ceiling, we arrive at the National Railway Museum, to take a look at some of the displays we missed before. We stop to watch the turntable being demonstrated, a short walk and we cross the wooden bridge, craning to look inside a mail coach. We climb the stairs to take photos of the bullet train “Shinkansen” and others grouped around the hall. The height giving us a much better view.
A short film is playing along the gallery of The Yorkshire moors, inspires us to plan a visit there next year.
Its soon time to go, we return to the van for some lunch by the river. Before venturing out again wearing shorts and a t shirt.

It will soon be time to pack away and say our goodbyes, especially a big thankyou to Martin and Marie. Friends and neighbours for the week, we look forward to meeting them again.
